Our Story

HOW IT ALL STARTED

Our journey began in response to the disaffiliations in the United Methodist Denomination in 2023. We started as a small community group with our first worship service on March 6, 2023, in the chapel at The Craig. 

EXPANDING THE VISION

As we outgrew the chapel at the Craig, we received an invitation from St. Luke Presbyterian Church to share their Sanctuary and facilities. We held our first Worship service on Palm Sunday April 2, 2023. As we continued to grow, we were able to become a new United Methodist Church on June 4, 2023. June 4th was the culmination of a group of people determined to have a United Methodist Church presence in Amarillo, Texas, fulfilling Jesus' call to make disciples and be the church with open minds, open hearts, and open doors. 
 

WHERE WE ARE HEADED

Amarillo UMC continues the rich history of the United Methodist Church in Amarillo, Texas by reaching out, reflecting Christ, and renewing lives.
